Escuela Jesus

When club members heard that the school had insufficient materials to start the new year, Atenas Rotarians stepped in to help.

Our Outreach Committee Chair challenged club members to match donations and collected enough money to purchase paper, pencils and erasers, printer ink, toilet tissue and more for the Escuela Jesus to be ready to begin their school year.

International Baccalaureate Program (IB) at the Liceo de Atenas

We presented Board representatives from the IB Association with a basket of ten graphic calculators to be used for the 2026 school year. Hasmine, who is president of the program’s association, was honored to receive the donation. Buying this quality of calculators, she explained, is difficult to do in Costa Rica.

The IB program is an Internationally recognized educational program in over 150 countries. Its mission is to develop critical, compassionate, and service-oriented youth, committed to peace. Characterized by academic excellence, skill development, and the promotion of social management and service, it is offered to select students during the final two years of secondary education (11th and 12th grades).

This private initiative, formed to supplement the education of Costa Rican students in the Atenas district, serves students from public and private high schools in Atenas and surrounding areas such as La Garita, San Mateo, and Orotina.
